The Journey…
From Hygienist
Originally from Walkerton in northern Indiana, Dr. Holly began her dental journey by completing Dental Hygiene training at Indiana University South Bend. She served patients as a dental hygienist for six years, taking pre-requisites for dental school during her lunch breaks and after work.
To Dentist
After years of preparation, she was accepted to Indiana School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She went on to complete her residency program at the VA Roudebush Hospital in Indianapolis.
To Owner
Dr. Holly served patients as an associate dentist before fulfilling a dream to own her own practice: Austgen Family Dental began in 2018 and recently became Modern Roots Dental to better reflect a focus on proactive care. She was named an Invisalign Rising Star in 2026 and has been named an Indianapolis Top Dentist for nine years running.
The Heart…
Faith
Dr. Holly’s personal relationship with Jesus is at the core of her approach to patient care. She starts every day grounded in faith and quiet reflection.
Family
Led by faith, family, and connection, she loves spending time with her husband Bob and their three amazing kids – Lucy, Ben, and Sam.
Fun
She recharges by being outdoors, especially near water or in the sunshine. She also enjoys live music, sharing stories and laughter, and spending time with family and friends.
